Word Count:453 Rajon Rondo Ejection
April 29th,2012- The
Atlanta Hawks are less than one minute away from blowing their 19 point lead
then all of the sudden the Hawks get help from an unlikely source, a player.
Its the Boston Celtics vs Atlanta Hawks in the first game of the first round of
the eastern conference NBA playoffs. Its a close game and the Hawks crowd is
going wild. All the players are tired but willing to give it their all. the
Hawks up by four and the crowd is yelling “De-Fense,De-Fense!”. Celtics have
ball. Celtic’s Rajon Rondo brings the ball down the court to Hawk territory, he
passes to Brandon Bass however he is unable to get a grip of the ball and loses
it. Bass and Josh Smith come together to try and get the ball. when they
collided the ref called a foul on Brandon Bass, Rondo was furious.
Rondo started to argue
to the ref about the fall, he wanted a jump ball. He stomped the ref and still
yelling at him about the call, Quickly the ref calls “T” sign with his hand
signaling for a technical foul. Rondo even more furious approaches the ref even
closer now and bumps the ref with his chest. Rondo is now is now ejected from
the game for having two technical fouls. The Hawks crowd starts to cheer cause
the Celtics best point guard is out of the game.
After the ejection John
Smith goes to the free throw line and makes two. The crowd goes nuts and also
relieved, the final score is 83-74. Later the NBA review the foul and now Rondo
is ejected from game 2 of the Celtics VS Hawks playoffs. I asked some of the
7th graders a few questions
First Question-What your
reaction to the Rondo ejection?
- “It was stupid on Rondos’ part- Jonah H
- I was completely baffled- Drew T
- I thought it was weird and stupid- Dyllon W
Second Question-Do you think he deserved the suspension?
- Everyone up top said yes
Third Question-On a scale from one to ten how well did you know
the rondo incident?
- One said 9
- Two said 8
These playoffs are hard and intense i
understand why you would do that BUT as everyone says think before you do. If
you don’t agree with the ref keep your cool, one moment in the game can change
the outcome of it and when your team is down by four points with a minute left
you don’t want to be the cause of it.
